One simple word Home it’s an easy word to say but it has a good meaning with it.. I got a real taste of being a FIFO..three weeks or for me 25 days straight of getting up at 3.45am every day working 12 hours getting back to camp at around 6.30pm, shower, dinner, washing every second night, a quick hello to the kids on the phone a sleep around 9pm.

Well can i say it was an amazing swing if that make sense, sure i worked hard and long hours, but met some interesting people, with this they all have a story to their lives, some are good, some are sad, some are funny, some are truly inspiring . but every one in life have their own story and a meaning to them in so many ways.

I met men and women of all ages, got to know the guys i work with more, a few i wish id never Lol but i have been around long enough to know we are all different in so many ways when it comes to personalities and our life styles.. but i all so had the ones were i just say hi to be polite other’s i enjoyed there company and it’s a pleasure to work with them and to be a part of there story in life..

I find the longer we work together the more we look out for each other and make sure we are all good on the job and even around camp.We get into in depth conversations of life how we feel and were we are going in life, we have a good laugh, we go silent and think of the words we have just spoken, but we all have a story and we are all there for the same reason to get a head and make it a better life.
THAT FEELING WHEN YOU DON’T

One of the things i have noticed and find it hard sometimes is the thank you’s and phrases of how good you are and how far you can go with this career, my supervisors are working really hard with me, with teaching me the job and learning to use the machines and whats needed to operate them, they all so are haven conversations with me in getting to know me more as a character and the person i am, it seems to be working they seem to be coming back Hahaha Lol.

THE HARDEST BATTLE IS
WHAT I KNOW VS WHAT I
FEEL.

So the mixed emotions are i’m really enjoying the swing and were i work the country is just spell bounding how it can be stunning and then dangerous in a matter of hours with its power of the lighting storms and 100ml of rain with in 5 minutes is something to see, and i experienced the Pilbara storm and that was amazing how the creeks were over our bonnet with in minutes, you hear stories about them but to be right in the middle was pretty exciting, head office were ringing us every 5 minutes to see if we were getting back to lay down as we were 90Ks from there..different very different.
I do mis the kids a lot with a shift like that and my best little mate Kado with haven them around me, i mis the chats and the laughs, with FIFO it can be very lonely in a lot of ways especially when your in your room on your own.. I work with a lot of indigenous crew women and men and are the character’s of the Pilbara with great stories of the land, to say that we have the privilege with working on it is an understatement.
I have had the honour of meeting the elders to the land and one in particular George my grader driver, he has taught me a lot of the land and tells me stories of the early days.. but his going to make me a medicine from the sap of a red gum tree for arthritis he saids straight it will make my life of pain a lot easer, i’m willing to try iv’e tried needles, tablets and other things it’s still hurting and seems to be getting worse as i grow older.. our bodies are like cars they need a service Haha as you get older..
Love the land and feel privileged working there.
ACCEPT HOW YOU FEEL
BUT DON’T LET YOUR FEELINGS
RULE YOU.
YOU ARE IN CONTROL.
